Downtown’s Getting 20 New Apartments โ€” For Veterans

The city approved a 4-story, 20-unit apartment building at 300 S. Main St., developed by Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The Planning and Zoning Board passed it 5โ€“1 in February after a public hearing, and City Council received the report in March. The site covers the corner of South Main and West Willow Avenue, including 104โ€“108 W. Willow Ave.

Why it matters

That corner at S. Main and Willow has sat underutilized for too long. A 20-unit building from a veteran-focused nonprofit is a strong use of the land โ€” construction timeline is still TBD, but the approvals are through.
