Downtown’s Getting 20 New Apartments — For Veterans

The city approved a 4-story, 20-unit apartment building at 300 S. Main St., developed by Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The Planning and Zoning Board passed it 5–1 in February after a public hearing, and City Council received the report in March. The site covers the corner of South Main and West Willow Avenue, including 104–108 W. Willow Ave.

Why it matters

That corner at S. Main and Willow has sat underutilized for too long. A 20-unit building from a veteran-focused nonprofit is a strong use of the land — construction timeline is still TBD, but the approvals are through.
